Jacob F | HS SENIOR

A few years ago, one of my very first senior portrait sessions was with a lovely girl named Chelsea. This year was her brother's turn - it was great seeing the Fonsecas again! Here are some of my favorite photographs from Jacob's time in front of the camera...

For photographers: I photographed this session with my D3S and 70-200mm f/2.8, 105mm f/2.8 macro, and 35mm f/1.4 lenses. Most of the photos were lit with my Quantum T5D-R/Turbo3 combo, modified by the Lastolite 30" Ezybox. Some of the photos also had back/side light from my Nikon SB910 speedlites. All remote flashes were triggered by PocketWizards (PlusII on the Q-flash, FlexTT5 on the SB910s).

Freer and Sackler Galleries "Some Enlightened Evening" | EVENT

I've recently had the opportunity to shoot with Tony Powell, a DC-based photographer who seems to know everybody in town. The most recent event he asked me to help him with was an opening-night gala for The Freer and Sackler Galleries "Yoga: The Art of Transformation" exhibit at the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery. You can read more about the event here, and learn about the exhibit itself here.

The gala was held at the historic Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium, with events all over the building. You'll see photos from the cocktail hour and dinner in the Great Hall, the pre-after-party on the Rooftop Terrace, and the "Transcendance" after-party in the Green Room (presented by the Silk Road Society).

There were many notable guests, including Jillian Sackler, Julian Raby, Thievery Corp's Rob Garza, and the one-and-only Alec Baldwin, whose Alec Baldwin Foundation supports the exhibit.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the evening:

For photographers: I photographed this event with my D3S and (primarily) the 24-70 f/2.8. I used SB900 speedlites to light the venue - the portability of the kit allowed for easy transportation of lights from one room to the next.
